Let's have a little fun in the kitchen today. I'm not one to make my food too frou frou, but these strawberry roses are pretty easy and look impressive. They even make my double chocolate fudge hunk of cake look stunning. Note that I did not make the double chocolate fudge cake, so that I did not have a whole double chocolate fudge cake left in my house.
Now, I've created a little video below to show you how to make the "roses" because it was easier to actually see how it's done. Be warned, it's jenky. No music. No creative introduction. It's just you, me, and the strawberries. But I'd rather show it to you than have nothing at all.
- I've made these the day before, and they worked well holding their form, but didn't taste as yummy.
- Leave the green tops if you're using these just for decorating to make them look more like flowers, but remove if you want them eaten.
- The more cuts you make for the "petals" the more the strawberry will look like a flower. These follow the pancake rule, where your first few wont be your best ... so make a lot of them!
If you make these, or any food art, let me know! I love to see what you are all doing in your kitchens too.
